International Women's Day

Today is International Women's Day. Earlier this week I took part in a panel sponsored by the International Women's Forum at Pier 21 in recognition of this day. The topic was Women in Politics and the aim was to encourage some of the 250 women who attended to become politically active and assume political leadership roles. My fellow panelists were Kelly Regan, MLA for Bedford-Birch Cove and Jennifer Watts, HRM Councilor for District 8-Peninsula North. The panel was moderated by Mount Saint Vincent student Allison Sparling.

It was a wonderful opportunity to speak about why I entered politics, the demands that places on you and why it is important for women to be active in politics. It was an inspiring morning.
